AUTO ALARM LAW |
| |
| |
The City of North Bay Village enacted an ordinance directed at owners of cars equipped with auto alarms. While most car alarms are well-intended theft deterrent devices, some are set with an overly sensitive tolerance or are improperly installed and keep sounding for prolonged periods.
Any person whose auto alarm is audible at a distance of 100 feet and sounds continuously or intermittently for a period in excess of 15 minutes between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. will be in violation of this law. Any duly designated law enforcement officer or code enforcement officer is authorized to issue a citation and notice of violation of this law.
A first violation will result in a warning and a subsequent violation within 120 days will result in a civil penalty of $100. |
