Scott J. Israel
Chief of Police
Dedicated, motivated, and accomplished Law Enforcement professional
with exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
On July 14, 2004, Scott Israel was appointed as the Chief of Police for the City of North Bay Village. He is a senior-level law enforcement management professional with more than 29 years of community service. He advanced from the rank of police officer to executive level command, formerly serving as the Community Support Captain, Homeland Security Director and S.W.A.T. Team Commander for the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, and was appointed to Governor Bush’s Southeast Regional Anti-Terrorism Task Force. During his law enforcement career, he was assigned to the Special Investigative Division Narcotics Unit and received a Recognition of Appreciation from the United States D.E.A. in 1996.
As the North Bay Village Police Chief, he took a positive approach with Command Staff and was able to influence new areas of exploration and change the culture of the Police Department. By maintaining confidence in their leadership, he has been able to promote employee morale and by example, instill teamwork within the Department and throughout the City. He was instrumental in creating the first North Bay Village Police Athletic/Activities League
He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the Cortland State University and is a graduate of the 212th F.B.I. National Academy at Quantico, Virginia.
