Garbage and Trash pickup in North Bay Village is supervised by the City's Community Improvement Department and a City Ordinance prescribes how waste must be prepared by residents for pickup.
Trash in containers or properly bundled trash can be placed in the front yard setback no sooner than 6 pm on the evening prior to the scheduled pickup day. In those buildings where garbage bins are provided for apartment residents, garbage must be placed inside the garbage bins. This avoids an unsightly mess and is an important courtesy to neighbors.
Garden trash such as grass, leaves and twigs MUST BE BAGGED OR PLACED IN CONTAINERS. NEVER SWEEP OR BLOW DIRT, LAWN CLIPPINGS OR YARD REFUSE INTO STREETS, GUTTERS, SIDEWALKS OR THE BAY. THIS CAN CLOG DRAINS, CAUSE FLOODING AND POLLUTE THE BAY. IF YOU EMPLOY A YARD SERVICE COMPANY, THEY MUST COMPLY WITH THIS LAW.
It is against Dade County law to mix lawn and garden clippings with household garbage.
Tree limbs must be cut into three-foot lengths weighing no more than 50 pounds a piece. Boxes and cartons should be flattened.
Newspapers, aluminum cans, tin cans and plastics should be placed in recycling bins and placed on curbside for Wednesday pickup City-wide. Household batteries may be placed in battery bags and placed with newspapers on the first pickup of each month. Telephone books may be placed with newspapers from Aug. - Nov.
Pickup of discarded appliances and furniture requires an appointment.
